They closed the doors to all the houses, It got as quiet as the doubt is that We would turn back to our couches and The sleep we fell so deep into before. Yesterday it turned to spring and You forgot about the sting that All those looming questions bring, and Took a walk and watched the birds along the shore. And maybe felt some kind of lonely But not a thing like empty Remember once you were a child… Oh, has it been that long a while? I ride my bike down to the ocean Just to catch the daylight dying I’d like to try my hand at flying and Dive into the forest thru the trees. And maybe find some kind of treasure, Catch my eye, have all the answers. Oh and wake up to the world outside, It feels so good to be alive… Ohooooo. Ohooooo. Oh say can you see the moon is on the rise, Shedding light on monsters creeping in the night? So tired of this fight against reflections on the wall, Shadows of myself that I can see inside us all. Isn’t it strange Isn’t it strange Oh, what will it take for you to make a change, What will it take for you to make a change...

Searching all around, cause you know you buried something, Turning over ground, but keep coming up with nothing Try not to despair, you can find it anywhere, All you have to do is care for something. Searching all around, cause you know you buried something, You been, turning over ground, but keep coming up with nothing Try not to despair if you find your cupboard bare, Maybe you could ask around for something. Oh and how the days go by, message sent but no reply, So you look up to the sky in contemplation Oh, well you could travel far, or just stay right where you are. Are you waiting on some kind of invitation? Searching all around, cause you know there must be something You been pouring over ground you feel you cannot trust in, Try not to be scared, well, you know it’s only fear, Raising up the stakes, but she’s just bluffing. And I think back to the times when we were young and free and blind To the truth about mankind and all the sorrow How the laughter love and tears wrote the story of the years, No, we had no idea that youth is only borrowed. So you wander in the night, and search the walls for something, They been blocking out the light, so that you can’t see nothing, Try not to despair, you could cut a hole through there, Do it on a dare, yea, that’d be something Ooohh, that’d be something Ooohh, Yea, that’d be something Oh, if you could see that fear is only bluffing.

Well I’ve been waking up to rain tapping on the roof for days,
Birds singing at my window like I’m some Cinderella maid Stuck up in a tower waiting for her prince to come Or at least someone to take her out and have a little fun. You know I’m really not that lonely, I’ve been fine all by myself Making music in my living room that couples as a house I take a walk around the block if I feel a little stuck, Run into a flock of turkeys, they don’t seem to give a damn, No they don’t, not one bit. Not one little bit. Ooohooo, ooohooo, ooohooo I’ve been feeling the seasons change, transform into something strange I’m not sure what it’s about, but I’m glad the sun is out, Was getting tired of all that rain, So tired of all the rain… I was talking to a friend about the way we build our dreams, And she says that I’ll get tired if I swim against the stream, But up ahead there’s human nature, getting ready for a threat And I’m scared I’ll end up doing something I regret, And I’ve been feeling a little strange, like somethings about to change, I’m not sure what it’s about, but I’m glad the sun is out, Was getting tired of all that rain… I’ve been feeling a little strange, like things are about to change, I’m not sure what it’s about, but I’m glad the sun is out, Was getting tired of all that rain, so tired of all the rain…

Open arms to the sky, Don’t need permission to fly, Taste the salt in the air, Close my eyes and we’re there. Oh how old was I then? Couldn’t have been more than ten. On the grass spinning round, Wait till the others fell down. Easy smiles and laughs, Kids running down the path, See the fairy lights glow, There’s magic in the hollow. How it all went so fast, Sweet innocence don’t last. I wanna bring it back, Please help me bring it back... To the time that I was there with you and There was nothing that we couldn’t do, To the days where we would laugh and play Tag your it, turn, and run away. But days came that we cried, I heard the magic had died. Oh then everything changed, And life became strange. Oh how old were we then? I wonder now and again if We could take it back, Oh could we take it back... To the time that I was there for you and There was nothing that I wouldn’t do, To the days where I was unafraid to Break the rules and misbehave, To the times of manhunt in the dark, to Ready or not and on your mark, Before the chards of broken hearts Rained down upon that dream theme park. Now you’ve got kids of your own, Blink your eyes and they’re grown, Hear them laugh while they play, I see them brighten your day. Oh how it all goes so fast, Sweet innocence don’t last, I wanna bring it back, Please help me bring it back, I wanna bring it back...

When you were small I carried you to roses in the yard, Hoping you would turn to them in times when life gets hard. Softened by a smile shown bright upon your face, All the sorrows of the world temporarily erased. Today is your birthday and I wanted you to know, Although I have no gifts for you, all wrapped up in bows, I will always be here, forever your friend, Babe, if you need anything, on me you can depend. I know at times the world can feel selfish, dark and cold But I hope that you look back on it, someday when you’re old, And smile on a truth, so long been revealed, Love is the most powerful sword that you can wield. Today it is your birthday, so I’ll tell you a secret, There is no wrong way to live, so unleash your spirit, If anybody laughs at you, it’s ‘cause they are afraid, Just continue being you, let love lead the way. May you always see a light shining up ahead, Leading you out of the woods in times when you are sad, And have the courage to stand up for those that have been wronged, If you ever need reminding, You can come back to this song… Today it is your birthday and I wanted you to know, That love is not conditional, forever does it grow. Remember to stay true to who you want to be, You will always have our hearts, you are family. Oh, Happy birthday, baby.
